2020 Keynote Speakers
Bryden J Stanley, BVMS, MVetSc, MANZCVS, MRCVS, DACVS
Originally a graduate of Murdoch University, Australia, Dr. Bryden J. Stanley did her surgery residency and Master’s degree at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Her first faculty appointment was at the University of Edinburgh, but she has been at Michigan State University since 1999. Bryden’s clinical interests are all aspects of soft tissue surgery; her research interests are upper respiratory conditions and wound healing. Current studies include: laryngeal paralysis, the Norwich terrier and brachycephalic upper airway, incisional negative-pressure wound therapy, amnion and honey-based products. She publishes frequently, has received many teaching awards and lectures widely at a national and international level.
Dr Jane Ladlow MA, VetMB, Cert VR, Cert SAS, DECVS, MRCVS
Jane completed an ECVS residency program at the Royal Veterinary College, London and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgery in 2002. Jane is based at the Animal Health Trust, having moved from The Queens Veterinary School in Cambridge where she was a Senior Lecturer in Soft Tissue surgery until 2019. Jane’s current research is in non-invasive assessment of respiratory function in the brachycephalic breeds, particularly French Bulldogs, Pugs and Bulldogs using a plethysmography chamber and functional grading which led to the launch of the Kennel Club/ University of Cambridge Respiratory Function Grading Scheme in 2019. Jane has published a textbook on general surgery in cats: Feline Soft Tissue and General Surgery. Editors: Langley Hobbs, Demetriou and Ladlow, Saunders 2014 and contributed to the veterinary journals, predominately on brachycephalic obstructive airway disease (BOAS).
